MEET OUR NEW INTERN / CAITLIN, NYC, USA

We have a new face around here: a new admin intern, Caitlin! Based in NYC, she joins us with a unique background, skills and interests that are right in line with our philosophy at EAT.PRAY.MOVE! We asked if she could tell our guests more about herself, as they might hear from her in the future!

My name is Caitlin Burns, and I’m so excited to be writing on the EAT.PRAY.MOVE Blog for the first time as the EPM Administrative Intern! You can read my blog posts here, which will cover anything from retreat testimonials, updates from our Give Back partners, notes from our retreat leaders, musings on the practice of yoga, and more. But first, allow me to introduce myself.

I grew up in Los Angeles (Pasadena, if you’re familiar), and have always been equally curious and creative. In college, I majored in both Dance and Psychology, and spent most of my time investigating the relationship between the body and the mind. Dance brought me to New York City post-grad, where I danced and choreographed for several professional companies in the city.

While dancing, I spent my free time searching for just about every great restaurant and bakery the city had to offer. I grew up in a foodie family (which is a term I just invented), and I learned to explore much of my world through the food. Tracking down a good meal is my favorite way to explore any new city, and New York is my absolute playground. Thankfully, I also cook at home consistently enough to be able to support my other love: Travel. When I first moved to NYC, I set a goal to visit five new countries in five years...and ended up doing it in two, by visiting Japan, Belgium, Denmark, Thailand, and Cambodia.

Over the last several years (when not dancing or eating) I also began to deepen my yoga practice. I found any excuse to try new studios and different styles of asana, and this interest led me to pursue my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in the Fall of 2019. My goal was to find greater knowledge within my own practice; I came away with the feeling that a new world had opened up before me. I understand now that my journey of learning the science and practice of Yoga is only just beginning, and it’s something I will continue to explore for years to come.

Which brings me to why I’m writing to you today! I connected with Erin Lewis and Sarah Roseberry of EAT.PRAY.MOVE through the yoga community, and was instantly hooked on the idea of mindful travel through yoga retreats. The mantra of “Do Good, Travel Well” is one that speaks to everything I value in both mindfulness and adventure, and I am incredibly grateful to be involved. I can’t wait to see what adventure I find next.

Thank you for reading, and keep an eye out for more blog posts from me. If the stars align, we may even meet on an EPM retreat in the future!  Namaste, Caitlin

Thanks, Caitlin! We already value what you bring to our community.
