Why do we love Scotland?

From the art to the history to the culture, there’s so much to enjoy here. The landscape is unlike any other, with its lush greenery, craggy landscape mysterious lochs and misty weather, it feels like stepping into an ancient realm, where queens and fairies are real. Edinburgh is a beautiful blend of Scottish and British culture, so you can have high tea as easily as a scotch, and the city is the perfect size to explore in a week—large enough to keep you exploring, but small enough to feel like a place you could call home. The pace of life moves a bit slower here, and it’s even more quiet and peaceful on the private grounds of the castle that houses us for the week. It’s perfect for many types of travelers - from history buffs to Harry Potter fans, and art lovers to those who just love a beautiful landscape in which to relax and enjoy a cup of tea.

Where do we stay?

We are housed in an actual, authentic castle (Scotland’s oldest continuously inhabited castle) with sweeping grounds that are home to deer, owls and falcons. In addition to the quirky, cozy rooms, the castle has several dining rooms—one is a glass greenhouse style space and the other an authentic dungeon, complete with armor, for more formal evenings—and its own spa. In addition, it’s minutes away from Rosslyn Chapel, made famous in The DaVinci Code. This lodging was picked specifically for its spacious, serene atmosphere, perfect for clearing your head and rejuvenating after our daily adventures.

Why go on a wellness retreat to Scotland?

We believe that yoga can be experienced both on and off the mat, and that it is a practice that can improve our lives and lead us into the present moment. Traveling to a new place and experiencing a new culture also helps lead us to the present moment by heightening our senses and mixing up our day to day. Scotland has a timelessness that is helpful to regain perspective of how small we are in time and space, helping us see the minute nature of our worries.
