OVERVIEW
GIVE BACK RETREAT
This retreat is part of our GIVE BACK initiative, where EPM will donate at least 10% of profits to a humanitarian partner in the community where each retreat is held. Our partner in Croatia is the CROATIAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND with the purpose of providing university scholarships for Croatian students who could not otherwise afford a higher education.
ACCOMODATION
This yoga retreat will take place at a beautiful hotel in Lapad Peninsula just outside of the old town Dubrovnik. The exclusive five star Hotel More is an elegant boutique hotel, located on the water's edge in the picturesque area of Lapad. The Cave Bar, the hotel's hidden gem, offers a unique place to enjoy a cocktail, either within the cave itself or on the seafront, where you can take in the stunning views. The location is also superb - enjoy the lovely bathing spots and eateries within the surrounding area, without forgetting to venture a little further to Croatia's star attraction, Dubrovnik Old Town. (—jet2holidays)
Scenery-wise, Hotel More couldn’t be more dramatic. It clings to a cliff edge that affords its pool, restaurant and bars panoramic views over Lapad Bay. It’s the classic Croatian setting that takes a starring role at Hotel More. This place weighs anchor on the peaceful Lapad Peninsula, where perfumed pine forests and ragged cliffs vie for attention. There will be time to relax in the pool which looks out over the sea, and our yoga space is nestled perfectly in the hillside for nature-filled scenery while we start out day with breath and movement.
ACTIVITIES
Guests will not only enjoy the hotel and encompassing estate, but also the beauty of the bay, ocean, and nearby towns, including Old Dubrovnik.
Day trips will allow guests to add arts, culture, adventure, and natural beauty to their retreat experience. Trips include visits to towns and small villages in the region, as well as outdoor activities. We kick off the week in Dubrovnik’s old town as we enjoy lunch and a walking tour with free time to explore further, shop, or grab a drink at one of the city’s “secret” bars on the rocks, just outside the seawalls. A spa day is included where guests can swim, lounge at the spa facilities and enjoy a spa treatment. We will enjoy a private boat to a gorgeous beach club to lounge for the afternoon and swim in the clear waters before we boat to another stop at an island for a nature hike and dinner by the sea. We’ll spend a day exploring the nearby Peljesac Peninsula which is rich in agriculture and vineyards. Here we’ll make several stops - one at a modern winery where we’ll have a tour and tasting, then a seaside village stop to indulge in an afternoon ice-cream, before visiting an old fortified city. Visit smaller villages that few tourists see, and get a true education and taste of Croatia with various tastings of regional wines and cheeses.
CUISINE
Healthful, vegetarian food is part of the retreat experience, including breakfasts and dinners daily, as well as selected lunches. Enjoy cuisine which combines creativity and flavors with special attention to creating balanced meals. Wholesome ingredients, freshness of the foods, traditional cooking methods and local ingredients are present in every meal you will enjoy. Meals will be enjoyed at the hotel or in carefully chosen restaurants around the area. We'll feast on traditional flavors of Croatia mixed with Mediterranean styles as well. Plus, throughout the week we'll have a chance to sample many regional wines and other tastes such as cheeses and various other specialties. We will enjoy daily breakfast, various visits to gourmet restaurants, a cocktail aperitivo at a beautiful bar overlooking the city, plus a wonderful winery visit for a tour and tasting.
*Provided meals are vegetarian with a couple having a pescatarian option, although daily breakfast is an open menu for all guests to enjoy whatever they choose on the menu. Plus a few selected meals, guests will be on their own to dine as they wish. Thus allowing all diet preferences to be accommodated. Special allergy and dietary restrictions can also be noted and taken care of.
WELLNESS
Daily meditation and yoga classes will be offered in a way to relax, stimulate, and help guests grow in their own personal practice. Classes are open to all levels, beginner to practiced, and can range from gentle, restorative, and more vigorous vinyasa flow and ashtanga styles.* Style and class levels will be determined and moulded to fit participating students' needs, and with a small intimate retreat class size, students will be able to get personalized attention and comfortability to deeply explore their practice. Depending on each retreat location, classes will be held in a dedicated indoor yoga space and some also offer outdoor options as well for us to use if the weather is agreeable.
CARRIE KAYA
This retreat will be led by our EPM collaborator, Carrie Kaya. After moving to Morocco from the US and working with the Peace Corp for many years, Carrie became the on-site manager for the boutique hotel and host of our Marrakesh retreats. Here she helped manage our retreats alongside our group leaders and shared her deep love and knowledge of the Moroccan culture with our guests. Now she leads retreats for us not only in Morocco but other locations worldwide. Currently she splits her time between the US and Turkey and leads both in-person and online yoga classes specializing in vinyasa flow and restorative sessions. She is a lover of travel and experiencing new cultures, and brings this enthusiasm to our retreats while setting a relaxed tone for our retreat guests to breathe, restore, and refresh during our weeks together
* Participation in classes and activities is optional throughout the retreat. All levels welcome!
